Trip Information

Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is one of the most amazing trekking routes in the western part of Nepal. This trail lies within the western Annapurna Region of Nepal and is found east of Modi Khola across the valley from Hiunchuli. This trail is also referred to as an eco-tourism trail that passes through lush forests crammed with Rhododendrons of varieties of colours and other vegetation too. The mixed local culture, diversified vegetation and stunning landscape are the attraction of Mardi Himal. This place is also considered the best place to relax far from the busy trails of the region.

Detailed Itinerary

We receive you from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on your arrival. In 20- 30 minutes, our vehicle brings you to the hotel. After you take rest in the hotel, we hold a meeting over dinner to plan your trip.

After breakfast, we drive to Pokhara via Prithivi national highway with scenic views along the road. The drive could take around 7 hours to reach in Pokhara. We even have the choice for a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes around 35 minutes. Overnight stay at the hotel.

We trek slowly upwards and goes through the bamboo forests with different color rhododendron increasing the beauty of nature and other vegetation too. The first village we reach is named Dovan where very few numbers are lodges are present. Then we head towards our last destination for today, Deurali, where we will stay overnight at lodge.

Today, we will start our journey from the discreet route, leaving the villagers behind. The diversified flora makes this trail a stunning enchanting route to forest camp, from where you can observe the view of Ghandruk, a Gurung Village. On this day we camp and lost into another world of the Forest Camp.

After having breakfast early in the morning, we set for a hike that ascends pretty easily through breathtaking views of hills and mountains. Lichens, tree ferns, and orchids can be observed everywhere. There are excellent sorts of flowers and shrubs of flowers as well as the very fragrant daphne. After reaching low camp, we see the Machhapuchhre and Annapurna sanctuary. We camp here at night.

Just after a short steep climb, we begin our day from the protective shady forest which brings us ridge, now grassy and sometimes under the snow. Then after that, we reach the high camp where we will have our lunch. We again enjoy the breathtaking views within the flabbergasting landscape and exploring this awesome spot. Overnight stay under starry moonlit skies.

This is a stunning area to spend the entire day and give our weary bodies a breather. There is no chance of lazing around in such a beautiful place. So touring a bit is good to explore our nearby surroundings and the imaginative landscapes. We are also able to do some washing and cleaning and even catch abreast of some reading.

We descend to low camp retracing our steps to scenic Gurung Village Of Siding. Then after an hour of walk, we reach the upper Mardi Khola and we hike along the side of the river till we reach Siding. Overnight stay at a homestay in Siding.

Today, we descend to Lumre where we see the flat course of the river valley which gradually goes down and down between the pastures through the Tamangs and Gurungs village in Lumre. We booked a private vehicle for Pokhara. After taking rest, we visit Mahendra cave and Davis Fall, popular attractions in Pokhara. We fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon which takes about 40 minutes. The flight allows observing the mountains closely. The day is for taking rest and exploring nearby places. We enjoy the night in Kathmandu.

      Trekking in the Himalayas requires equipment and footwear according to the season and the location. A single trek can start in the warm and humid climate in the lowlands, and bring you to passes above 5,000m. Solid trainers (“sneakers”) are adequate on most trails but bring sturdy boots for crossing passes that may be covered with snow. Climbing expeditions requires special equipment. Sandals and flip-flops are practical for an evening in lodges or camp. You can buy any kind of footwear in Nepal.   No, it is not possible to live off the land in Nepal. You cannot just set off into the woods with a little money, a basket and a fishing rod and expect to manage on your own, Not only is the vegetation where there are fruit, wild herbs and other wild edibles limited, private community-owned, but fish is sparse and hunting is forbidden. It can also be difficult to buy food locally due to scarcity and poverty.
